A LITTLE INTRODUCTION
—
Hi there - I’m Jasmine, and I thought I would take a moment or two to introduce myself!
I am a mother of two beautiful little peanuts - June (2), and Henry (4). These two keep me incredibly busy as a stay at home Mum. We spend as much time outside as possible, exploring, gardening, bike riding, fishing, camping, road tripping, and visiting Dad at the fire station. When I am not doing these things, I am taking photos - capturing every candid, blurry, emotion-filled, heart-warming, memory-making moment.
I have been a creative soul for as long as I can remember. I used to visit my Nanna in her craft room in Australia when I was a little girl, asking if there was anything I could help cut, sew, stitch or prepare. Often I would find myself in her collection of buttons, running my fingers gently over each hand selected favorite. Taking careful note of every texture, color and design. Sometimes she would even set me up with the sewing machine to work on little projects. The final product would be far from perfect, however the pride that grew on her face as I handed over the dilapidated doll, or badly stitched pillow, made me feel like I could create anything.
This is where I feel most at home - creating. As I grew older, crafting turned to painting, which turned to designing, which eventually inspired photography. Even music felt incredibly natural in my creative zone.
I graduated from Oregon State University in the spring of 2015, with a major in Graphic Design, and a minor in Fine Arts. I was fortunate enough to land a full time graphic design job for a photography company right out of college, where I was the lead designer and developed all of their graphics, as well as their software interface. All the while, learning, honing and developing my photography skills.
When my dear husband and I started welcoming little ones to our family, I knew that my heart longed to be home with my children. After 6 years of doing freelance design work, I have finally decided to pursue my dream of owning my own design and photography business - hence Rose Collective.
Back in Australia, my Nan always adorned her house with roses. Rose is also the middle name I share with my daughter. So when it came to picking a name for my business, Rose had a special place in my heart.
So I welcome you, to my next chapter! I am so thrilled at what the future will hold, and eager to share tid-bits, short stories, recipes, tutorials, recent work, and gentle reminders to enjoy the little things in life. For me, it’s the way the wind blows sprinklers in the springtime; a gentle sigh of my babies when they finally calm for the evening; the smell of grass after rain; the way the sunshine breaks the landscape in the morning; my husband’s hugs, and the memories of my Nanna’s button collection…
